ABSTRACT
Unlike previously reported symmetry breaking with nanoribbons or Möbius rings, which exhibit single-handedness within one assembled structure, this study observes unique symmetry breaking in TPP-C8OH assembly system. Specifically, both left-handed (M) and right-handed (P) helices are present within single twisted nanoribbons. Additionally, chiral alcohol solvents induce assemblies with distinct helical orientations, resulting in significant CPL and CD signals. This study elucidates the impact of solvent choice on symmetry breaking and chiral assembly, providing insights into the design of advanced chiral materials with tailored chiroptical properties. -

A surface-coating strategy has been successfully developed to enhance H2O2 production by overcoating BiVO4 with hydroxyl-enriched hydrous tin dioxide. The hydrous tin dioxide coating can promote O2 reduction on Au nanoparticles by providing sufficient protons and simultaneously inhibit H2O2 decomposition. -

A functional group implantation strategy was proposed to significantly enhance birefringent performance by replacing the isotropic [S]2⁻ ions in the chalcogenide [Ba₃S][GeS₄] with anisotropic π-conjugated [CO₃]2⁻ groups in the oxychalcogenide [Ba₃CO₃][MS₄] (M = Ge and Sn). This implantation of functional groups did not alter the overall structure; however, both optical anisotropy and birefringence were greatly improved. -

An alkyl-linked heterostructure composing of TiO2 and COF was synthesized for photocatalytic reduction of CO2 with H2O. The alkyl linker enables a targeted electron transfer from photoexcited TiO2 to Cu active site in COF, which remarkably enhanced the photocatalytic efficiency of CO2 reduction. This work provides a new perspective for constr.ucting efficient photosystem with a strategy of targeting electron transport. -
