ABSTRACT

In this perspective, we outline the importance of the nitrogen neutral cycle and the advantages of nitrate electrocatalysis over other methods. The effects of experimental conditions on product selectivity are further elucidated and the importance of field equipment for understanding the reaction mechanism is emphasized. As research on nitrate electrocatalysis continues, we expect more new products to emerge in the future. Meanwhile, the use of theoretical computing and machine learning to understand reaction mechanisms, design catalysts, and establish catalytic correlation systems is expected to form a sustainable research direction in the coming years.
