A novel Schiff-base fluorescent probe 6,6΄-((1
E,1΄
E)-(ethane-1,2-diylbis(azaneylylidene))bis- (methaneylylidene))bis(3-(diethylamino)phenol)
(
L) was derived from the 2:1 M
condensation of 4-(diethylamino)- 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde
with ethylenediamine and
characterized by
1H NMR,
13C NMR and FT-IR spectroscopies.
The results of spectral analysis showed that the probe
L is selective and sensitive to Cu
2+.
The detection limit of
L is found to
be 19 nmol·L
-1. There is a good linear relationship between the
fluorescence intensity of probe
L and the concentration of Cu
2+ in the range of 0 to 20
μmol×L
-1. X-ray
crystal structure of the
L-Cu
2+ complex and the Job plot
revealed a 1:1
L-Cu
2+ identification.
